IBERDROLA’s Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm Bird Detection Radar system
The IBERDROLA’s Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm Bird Detection Radar system project is progressing with preparation for the onshore testing of the equipment in Denmark.
As a sub-supplier to the radar manufacturer TERMA A/S, a Micro Shelter was delivered to DHI A/S acting as a prime contractor for this project under construction in the Baltic Sea, north of Germany.
The Micro Shelter is used as a radar support but also as equipment housing for many other sensors electronics including vertical scanning radar and cameras.
The benefits of this setup include the capability to transport and reconnect easily all devices while the system is moved on the Offshore Sub-Station roof deck, minimising cables routing.
The equipment was designed to allow for flexibility e.g. to be able to relocate the surveillance equipment to maximise coverage and data collection.
The Micro Shelter is an ideal small data centre which has the flexibility and transportability required for such context, offering high protection from the very adverse offshore environment, securing access to the sensitive electronics, and offering extensive remote status indications.
Micro Shelter Solution is involved in Offshore Wind farm development, and other surveillance projects in several projects around the world.
